The engine code is J35Z3 for the manuals (non VCM, traditional VTEC) and the automatics have the J35Z2 (VCM, I-VTEC) engines.

Seeing how Hondata works with Honda and their dealers increased my nervousness to tune my 2000 mile new accord. That’s my 2 cents. I’ll keep updating regarding my tune as I drive 30k miles a year. I also like the app and their customer service is great which is a gripe of mine. See more. foriron52 and InTheRed.
It jumps from 89 to 93. That's the only reason I run 93. Change your AT fluid every 30k miles. A simple drain/fill only replaces 1/3 of it, so this is how you get it changed every 90k miles per Honda's recommendation. Drain and fill every 30k unless you drive it hard, then change it more often. It's easier and cheaper than an oil change.
VCM only kicks in on low loads for 3 cyl mode and 4 cyl mode for some med loads, tuning usually deals with higher load full throttle tuning. Otherwise maybe making it rich everywhere in the powerband will be compensated by VCM and fuel economy won't suffer muh, that or VCM will only kick in during turbo lag
all these places carry OTC wiring. Things you will need: 4 ft of red OTC 0/1 gauge cable (I recommend Knu Kolossus Kable from amazon) 5 ft of black OTC 0/1 gauge cable. 2 black 0/1 guage ring terminals and 1 red ring terminal like the ones seen here. 2 black ring terminals with a bigger diameter than the seen above.
If you look at the 1/4 mile times on the 9th gen, the difference between the two transmissions on the 1/4 mile are extremely close. Whereas for example on the cl-s auto was 15.1 and manual was 14.3. Identical engine (unlike the 8th gen accord with some differences). So that just shows you straight up the handicap you get with the 5 speed.
