Theonly ones they currently sell for anything like $200 are the ones still made in England, or the line which come with an explicit BIFL guarantee. You can still buy the original quality Doc Martens they're listed on their website as "vintage" they're still made in the UK using the old ways. Unfortunately they're about ÂŁ190 ($250) a pair

Thefirst Griggs Group design, the 1460 boot, is still in production today in much the same form as it was in 1960. for the premium Made in England range. How to break in Doc Martens Yearsago, I had a pair of "made in England" Doc Marten shoes that needed a new sole. I took them to the local cobbler, and he glued a Vibram Gumlite sole to the bottom, which worked fine (and was IMHO an upgrade on the original sole both for grip and for durability.) Makesure your boots are dry and dust-free. Use a brush to clean them, if necessary. Using the sponge the balsam came with, apply a small amount to the boot, rubbing in circles. Work the balsam into the leather all the way up to and over the seams (it won't hurt those stitches!). Don't forget the tongue. Theolder made in England ones have thick leather, good stitching, great build quality, and hold up very well. I’m murderously hard on shoes; I walk with a significant limp due to an old knee injury, and the older DMs are good for 2-3 years of every other day wear (yes, I stockpiled when they switched to overseas). While the For Life collection is a great deal and it will essentially be the only time you "pay" for those boots, the quality is lesser than those of the vintage Made In England collection. f7Mo.
