Here is a thread on the TDi club summarizing all of the swaps that have been highlighted on their forums and there are several Mk1 conversions: Conversion listing on TDiclub. Personally a full TDi swap with the appropriate injectors and pump on a Mk1 chassis with reinforcements and the right gearing would be a great daily driver.
The compression ratio of the BXE engine is 18.5 (which is quite a lot), and the power is 105 hp. Before overhaul, this engine can “run” 300,000 km without problems (and in fact much more). Applicability of 1.9 TDI BXE engine. Audi : A3 (2006-2009) Seat: Leon (2006-2010), Toledo (2006-2009), Altea (2006-2010) Skoda : Octavia (2006-2010)
Is the 1.9 TDI engine that expensive to repair? No. The comparison of the mechanics is good, because this car with 1.9 TDI can be bought for $520-$1290. As for an engine designed for high power and great performance – cars with a factory engine accelerate to 100 km / h in about 9 seconds – it is quite cheap to maintain and repair. When the first 2003 TDI engine appeared in 2.0, the 1.9 TDI slowly began to pull. Unfortunately, the new diesel proved to be more unreliable. So, if there is a choice between a 1.9 TDI and a 2.0 TDI car, choose the older generation of engines, even though it offers slightly worse performance, and certainly better choose the 130hp 1.9 TDI andy2 said: I think that an hy35 (54mm comp inducer) would work better than the hx35 regardless of turbine housing or compressor size.Hopefully the hy35 turbine (58mm) would be small enough to keep up with the hp turbo.Definitely stay away from the hx35. Using a variable geometry low pressure turbo would be nice however its probably better to I am currently looking at getting a Seat Altea 1.9 TDi and have noticed that four different 1.9 TDi engines have been fitted depending on the year. Using the correct and good quality oils is
The only option I see for a turbo 'upgrade' is the K03/04 hybrid, and I have heard it's not all that much of an upgrade. The VNT will require an exhaust modification as well as a chip tune and a MAP sensor. The GT2052 will require all of the above and a manifold adapter and modified rear motor mount. Overview – The 1.9 TDI engine can say a lot of good things: creative, highly durable, dynamic and increase the car’s sales value. However, one should not assume that every car is based on it, diesel is a good investment. There are many cars on the secondary market when the 1.9 TDI engine is difficult to exploit and requires a large investment.

Unlike the last two generations, this TDI is not forgiving what so ever. When someone puts gas in the Common Rail (CR for short), all that is takes is cranking the engine to do damage. If the car is started, usually it will be driven until it stops running. What that means is gas is in the entire fuel system.
